MD of Taber launches new Online Business Directory

The Municipal District (MD) of Taber has launched a new online business directory, offering a free and effective way for local businesses to increase their visibility and connect with the community. The initiative aims to create a central hub that showcases the diverse range of enterprises operating within the region.

The directory provides local businesses with an opportunity to enhance their online presence and improve their search engine optimization (SEO). By joining, companies can be more easily discovered by potential customers and gain exposure through the MD’s partnership with the Alberta Municipal Data Sharing Partnership (AMDSP). This partnership helps feed business information to emergency services and public-facing mapping applications like TomTom (used by Apple Maps).

Bryce Surina, Director of Community Services for the MD of Taber, says, “Joining the directory is a simple way to increase your visibility, connect with local customers, and show your support for our community. It’s free, easy to sign up, and helps us promote the incredible range of businesses operating in our region.”

Recruitment for the directory has been met with a positive response, with steady growth since its launch. According to Surina, local business owners have appreciated the creation of a resource specifically tailored to the MD of Taber.

One of the key advantages for participants is the boost to their SEO.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is used by online engines such as Google to find answers to searches and send back results. For example, those looking for a great pizza restaurant may search “pizza in Taber.” Applicable results are shown with businesses having higher SEO rankings placed higher in the list of results. Being in a directory helps gets businesses noted by those searching for products and services.

Surina elaborates, “SEO is a powerful tool. When your business is listed in a well-structured directory like ours, it increases your chances of being found by people searching for services in the MD of Taber area. It’s a simple but effective way to boost your online presence without needing to invest in complex marketing strategies.”

The MD of Taber is encouraging all local businesses to consider the directory.
