The newest Vauxhall town council officially meets on Nov. 3, when they’ll hold their annual organizational meeting, elect a mayor and deputy mayor, and host their first official council meeting.

The new council consists of newly elected John Ballard and Jimmy Wolf, along with incumbants Kimberly Cawley, Shelley Deleeuw, Marilyn Forchuk, Russell Norris, and Henry Zacharias.

“I feel very honoured and excited to be re-elected as a Town of Vauxhall councillor,” said Forchuk, who has sat three terms as a Vauxhall town councillor.”  I am truly grateful and look forward to working with the other councillors to help make a difference in our community.”

Forchuk said she was looking forward to working alongside her fellow town councillors, and it would be “interesting and exciting” to put ideas together and brainstorm, especially since they all have similar priorities.

“I feel that it is very important for people to participate in local government. It gets people involved in the decision making, helping to ensure decisions are made in the best interest of the community,” said Forchuck. “It also gives people the opportunity to understand how things work and where tax dollars are being spent. As well, it gets people more involved in their community. It is a very rewarding experience!”
