Vauxhall town council has new bylaws pertaining to their waste management and water and sewer services.
Bylaw 1013–26, the Waste Management Bylaw, sets the terms, conditions and rates for the town’s waste management and recycling services for 2026. Two major changes were reported: a clause for delivering notice via electronic means, and adding ‘or delving’, ‘or civic’, and ‘officer’, under the Municipal Tag section. Once passed, the bylaw would replace bylaw 982-21.
Council passed all three readings of Bylaw 1013–26 during their regular Feb. 17 meeting.
Bylaw 1014-26, the Water and Sewer Bylaw, sets the terms, conditions, rates and charges for supply and use of the town’s water and sewer services. Changes to the bylaw include updating the Peace officer definition to remove ‘employed by the town’, and adding a clause for delivering notice via electronic means. Additionally, the bylaw changes the cost of water from $0.55 per cubic meter to $72, per cubic meter, to match the cost in the Vauxhall and District Regional Water Services Commission rate. Once passed, the bylaw would repeal bylaw 990-23.
