Vauxhall’s waste management bylaw now reflects recent changes in recycling collection.
During their regular Oct. 19 meeting, Vauxhall Town Council reviewed the amended bylaw 1021-26.
The Waste Management and Recycling Bylaw would update the Town’s existing waste management bylaw 1013-26, which had been updated back in February this year. The proposed bylaw focused on updating the sections on recycling collection, as residents were now getting curbside pickup done by Circular Materials under Alberta’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework as of Oct. 1, and it changed how the community recycling depot was being used. Bottle depot operations are not impacted by these changes.
Mayor Kimberly Cawley noted that since first reading, which took place at their regular Oct. 5 council meeting, the proposed bylaw had been updated with some “minor changes to the wording” and they removed some commercial fees.
Council passed second and third and final reading of bylaw 1021-26.
