Dates set for upcoming local influenza immunization clinics

Influenza season is underway, and immunization is the best way for you to protect yourself and others against influenza. Influenza immunization clinic times in your community are as follows:

Friday Oct. 25, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Royal Canadian Legion, 217 5 St. N. and Thursday Dec. 19, the clinic is for booked appointments only, for children under five years of age and their families, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Vauxhall Community Health, 406 1 Ave. N. The vaccine is free of charge for all Albertans six months of age and older and is available at many pharmacies and physician offices around the province, and at AHS influenza immunization clinics. In addition to getting immunized to reduce your risk of influenza, there are a number of steps you should always take to help prevent the spread of germs and illness. These include:
• Covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when sneezing or coughing. If you don’t have a tissue, always cough or sneeze into your arm, not into your hands.
• Washing hands thoroughly and often with soap and warm water after coughing, sneezing, using tissues or the washroom, and before eating or preparing foods.
• Keeping hands and fingers away from your eyes, nose and mouth.
• Refraining from preparing food for anyone while you’re sick.
• Staying home – from work, school, social obligations and visiting anyone in care facilities – when sick.
