It has been a busy few months for our club, as many activities have been undertaken. Everything started in February with the club, district and regional speak-offs, activities in which a few of our club members did very well. Namely, Maegan and Annaliese Visser, placed second in regional presentations. We then had invited Cactus Country 4-H Judging Club to give us a workshop on the fine arts of judging almost anything. It was quite interesting. The Mills and Holthe families went to the Claresholm judging competition and represented our club. Each year, all clubs are invited to Claresholm to participate in this event, in which a wide variety of items are judged by qualified judges, then again by the participants. We get to compete against one another to see how we rated. We held our last meeting on May 3. After this quick meeting, we worked on our stall-theme decorations for the 4-H District Show and Sale, which is coming up fast. The Taber and District Show and Sale will be held at the Taber Agri-Plex June 4-5. This is where we get to showcase this year’s individual project. Members have been working with their calves when the weather was co-operating, which has been a challenge. We are still going to follow through with our Calf Clipping and Mini-Show May 15 at the Dorchak farm. The annual 2010 Highway Clean-up, in which most clubs participate, was canceled due to the weather and road conditions. Hopefully, we should be able to plant the trees for this year’s community project this week at the Enchant Golf Course. These trees are being supplied by the Trees for Your Community Project. Club members and leaders also express their appreciation to the public that supported this year’s flower fundraiser. It was a huge success, even if Mother Nature doesn’t seem to think it’s spring! |
