Taber novice Sabres earned a win and a loss in two tight contests on the weekend. The first was a 7-6 edging of Taber Terminators on Saturday. Ethan Klemen had four goals and Hayden Mack scored twice. Blake Kondor had a single. Jaeger Friesen had two helpers while Klemen, Mack, Kondor and Mikayla Friesen also drew assists. Jacob Portz earned the win in net. Sabres then suffered a 9-7 loss to Taber Bulldogs. Klemen scored four more times and Kondor potted two goals. Mack had a single. Single assists went to Klemen, Kondor, Mack, Owen Kress and Donovan Johnston. Joel Portz was in net. MIDGET: Penalties doomed the short-handed Vauxhall midget Sabres against the league-leading South Country Sabres on the road Friday night in Warner. Already missing a number of key defencemen, it was compounded by a number of penalties in which Vauxhall played almost the whole first period and fell behind three goals. Vauxhall battled back but eventually fell 4-3. Thomas and Jeff Hudson each scored along with Branden Martin. ATOM: Vauxhall atom Sabres advanced to the next round of provincial playdowns after beating Blackie 6-1 on Friday afternoon. Brant Mack and Kevin Turner each had two goals and an assist in the contest. Hunter Johnson and Nicholas Zalik rounded out the scoring with goals and Brandyn Howg and Jayden Bexte each had three assists apiece. The Sabres slate featured two losses at the hands of two different different Lethbridge, teams which started off with a 6-3 doubling on Saturday. Mack had two tallies and Turner had a single. Johnson drew two helpers. Sunday’s loss was 5-4. Mack and Bexte each scored twice and Johnson and Howg each drew assists. Vauxhall’s final round of provincial playdowns is against Warner. PRENOVICE: Vauxhall Sabres doubled up Brooks 8-4 on Saturday. Ewan Wolosuk had the hat trick and Kaden Walburger scored twice. Wyatt Broderson, Jared Huvenaars and Brittney Kambeitz all had singles. |
