During their regular Oct. 25 meeting, the Municipal District of Taber council received the Vauxhall Regional Fire Department’s Fire Chief report for the month of September.
The department reported four calls, bringing their year to date calls to 52. They are, as follows:
– There was a call in town of a smoke sighting on 2nd Avenue. No fires were detected, and the smoke was coming from a truck that was cleaning sewers down the road.
– In the M.D., the department was called to two billable motor vehicle collisions.
– The department answered a mutual Aid call in Barnwell, where crew was on the scene from 3:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
All departments have received their new uniforms as of Oct. 19.
Emergency contact binders have been made for every department, to be handed out at the next Fire Chief meeting.
An upcoming OFC Level 1 course in Vauxhall currently has 17 members from the Hays, Enchant, Grassy Lake and Vauxhall fire departments signed up. Once their training is complete, the M.D. fire departments will have 68/80 members with a minimum of Level 1 training.
Copperfield Farms had built three burn pans to use during the fire extinguisher demonstration at the Open House for the Regional Training Centre earlier this month.
Mutual Aid Agreements are being finalized and ready to take to their outlying neighbours. Additionally, more pieces to the Emergency Management Plan have arrived, and the online plan is 85 per cent complete.
