M.D. December briefs

The following are a selected set of briefs from the Municipal District of Taber’s regular meeting held on December 11.

Taber Seed Cleaning Grading Request

Joe Hanson of Taber Seed Cleaning sent a letter to M.D. council requesting grading of the road at Taber Seed Cleaning at the Fincastle plant location. 

“Due to weather and trucks, the road is in need of some maintenance. Any help would be appreciated,” stated the letter.

A motion was made to provide the service to Taber Seed Cleaning and was passed 5-2 with opposing votes coming from Councillors Jennifer Crowson and Leavitt Howg.

Dust Suppression Policy

At the Aug. 7 policy committee meeting, a motion was passed to amend the dust mitigation program policy which changed the rate paid for calcium dust suppression to $1.25 per lineal foot and to amend the maximum cost-share distance to 750 lineal feet. 

There was a motion to adopt the policy with amended costs and it passed with a 6-1 vote with Coun. John Turcato providing the lone opposing vote.

Offer to Purchase

The M.D. received an offer to purchase for Lot 29, Block 17, Plan 0810492 with the purpose of constructing a dwelling in the Hamlet of Hays. 

The residential lot purchase price is $12,369 plus GST for a total of $12,987.56. 

Council voted unanimously to approve the offer to purchase.
