The Taber/Vauxhall RCMP attended the scene of a single-vehicle collision at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 9. A 2006 International MA0025 truck was being operated by a 26-year-old male from Lethbridge. As the vehicle turned east on to Township Road 11-0 from Highway 36, the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled onto its roof. At the time, the vehicle was hauling approximately 1,200 gallons of liquid nitrogen, which mostly spilled into the ditch and on the roadway. Taber fire and emergency services attended the scene, as well as an environment-emergency crew from Vulcan. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were both treated for minor injuries. Drugs and alcohol were not factors. RCMP would like to thank the concerned citizens who stopped to help the driver, prior to arrival of emergency-services personnel. Sometime overnight between July 1 to the early-morning hours of July 2, a window was smashed on the 200 block of 6th Street in Vauxhall. The damage is estimated at several hundred dollars. Examination of the scene suggested someone accidentally or purposefully struck the window with a fist, knee or elbow, which broke a pane of glass. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the RCMP at 403-223-4447 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Quote the file number 2010-763233. On June 30, RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter into a garage located on 1st Avenue in Vauxhall. Access to the garage was gained through the rear window. Approximately $900 worth of carpenter tools were taken. On July 5, another complaint was received of a garage on 3rd Avenue in Vauxhall that was broken into. This time, about $300 worth of carpenter tools were taken. All residents are reminded to ensure their houses and garages are locked when they are away from their property. |
