The Town of Vauxhall received at cheque for $20,000, for completed renovations from the Vauxhall minor hockey association, during their regular council meeting on Oct. 5.

“We wanted to invest in the facility we use,” said Jennifer Crowley, secretary for the Vauxhall minor hockey league association. “Our kids are fortunate to be able to have a great facility to use, and we try to utilize it as much as possible.”

The money had been pledged during a council meeting on July 21, 2014, before the upgrades were done. Originally, the town had been planning on replacing the tiles in the changing room, a new coat of paint and maybe replace a few benches.

With the extra funds provided by the hockey association, the town was able to do all that, and upgrade the sinks, countertops, toilets, changing room stalls, ceilings and tile the shower and washroom as well.

“It helped to do a lot of the extra work,” said Cris Burns, CAO of Vauxhall. “We wouldn’t have gone that far, if we didn’t have the back of (Vauxhall minor hockey association).”

While the washrooms and changing rooms were not given a complete renovation, they were given an enough of a makeover to give them a badly needed update, since the last one was over 10 years ago.

“It’s kind of given a new fresh feeling to everything,” said Crowley.
