Town of Vauxhall issues statement on arena upgrades

Recreation plays a vital role in building a healthy, vibrant community by supporting both physical and mental wellbeing. It also strengthens tourism by attracting visitors and boosting our local economy.

Throughout our Strategic Planning process, residents made it clear just how important recreation is to our town and surrounding rural communities. This strong support continues to inspire our commitment to investing in recreational opportunities.

The Town of Vauxhall moved forward with upgrades to the local ice arena surfaces, approved in the 2025 budget. While the project meant getting started about a month later than usual this season, we are already hearing positive feedback and appreciation from our user groups, reinforcing the value of these improvements.

We are especially grateful for our regional partnership with the Municipal District of Taber for their generous contribution of $700,000 to this project. This collaboration underscores the strength of our region and reflects our shared commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities.

These upgrades did not only benefit current user groups but also opens the door to new opportunities, helping position our facility as a regional recreation destination. The Town of Vauxhall is excited to support recreation across our region and looks forward to welcoming participants and visitors for many years to come.
