Town of Vauxhall April 11 meeting briefs

R.C.M.P. January Report

RCMP calls for service – Taber/Vauxhall detachment area 155, Town of Vauxhall 11. Traffic (alcohol/drug)- impaired driving, 24 and 30-day suspensions, immediate roadside suspensions – 0. Non-criminal – 0. 9-1-1 hangups in Vauxhall 3, detachment area criminal record check 19, detachment area fingerprints (general public) 8. Total violation tickets in Vauxhall 3, total violation tickets in Taber detachment area 32, ITU (Lethbridge/Redcliff) violation tickets 23, total patrols in Vauxhall 51.

Bylaw No. 992-23 Retentions Bylaw

Vauxhall Town Council passed all three readings of this bylaw allowing them to destroy records that are older than seven years or when the indicated number of years on the document has passed, and not specially marked to be kept permanently. The previous version of this bylaw was implemented in 2017 and had expired.

Bylaw No. 993-23 Special Tax Bylaw

Following up from their discussed increase of the frontage tax during their budget discussion the Vauxhall counsel passed a bylaw to increase the frontage tax to $6.15 per frontage foot to all properties up to a maximum of 300 feet.

Bylaw No. 994-23 2023 Property Tax Bylaw

Vauxhall Counsel passed all three readings of a property tax bylaw, which will see an average residential tax increase of $81.79 and a non-residential increase of $149.40.

Cheque Listing for the month of March 31, 2023

The council approved the total check listing of $342,841.31 for the month of March.

2022 Reserve Transfer and Financial Statements

Vauxhall’s Council approved the 2022 reserves transfer notice. The opening balance of 2022 was $1,358,193.39, $392,900 went into reserves, $6000 were taken out of reserves for the beautification program leaving the closing balance of 2022 to be $1,745,093.39.

A motion was passed to allocate $562.19 to the small potato funds.
