Taber’s first-ever ‘Galentines’ event will be held on February 2 at the Taber Community Center Auditorium beginning at 5:30 p.m.

“Galentines is an event to celebrate women and friendships,” said Neechel Lowry, one of the primary organizers of the event. “It all started in my sister’s home. She had an idea to bring women together. The first year there were about 12 of us sitting around my sister’s kitchen eating a gourmet four-course meal that my other sister cooked. It was such a blast we felt like the whole community should be invited the next year!”

Lowry says that ‘Galentines’, which is organized by herself and her sisters, will have a few vendors there to be “entertainment” for the night. Neechel says that there will also be a permanent tattoo artist, a henna tattoo artist, 360 Photo Booth, The Loft from Taber, and there will be permanent jewelry as well.

“Any woman is invited to attend,” said Lowry. “Come with your friends, your sisters, your grandma, aunt, cousin or come by yourself and make new friends. The hope of the event is that women will come and enjoy a delicious four-course meal. Each person will also go home with a swag bag filled with goodies!”

Lowry says that there will also be a silent auction there with all proceeds from the bar and partial ticket sales going to the Taber Competitive Gymnastics Association.

“People from the communities are so amazing in donating several door prizes for the night,” said Lowry. “This is one of our favourite parts – spoiling our guests! I feel like the event has brought different women together and given them a night to enjoy each other’s company and strengthen their own friendships.”

Lowry says that she and her sisters plan to hold another Galentines event in Raymond on February 9.

“This is one of my favourite events that we do. We love deferring and making it look and feel so special for everyone that comes. We put so much detail and thought into everything that goes into the night. We have had great success in the past. Always a sold-out event and the comments have been nothing but positive afterwards. Everyone always has a very fun night!”

According to organizers, there is a cost for admission and the evening will feature a four-course meal. The cost will be $75 for the Taber event, and $65 for Raymond.
