After being suspended during COVID, the APEX Youth Awards are back.
“The APEX Youth Awards are about recognizing and celebrating the positive accomplishments of contributions of the youth ages 6 to 20 in our community who reside within the M.D. of Taber,” said Wilco Tymensen, Superintendent for the Horizon School Division.
The awards, Tymensen says, have celebrated hundreds of students and have been around for more than 20 years, but the format this year is different.
“The awards banquet is no longer taking place due to inflationary pressures, but we want to continue to honour our amazing youth,” said Tymensen.
There are three $1000 awards to be given out, Tymensen says, and those who wish to nominate youth can visit http://www.horizon.ab.ca to find and fill out the nomination package.
“Within the nomination package, nominators can speak to the nominee’s involvement in worthwhile community service and/or activities or groups, volunteerism, leadership, how the nominee supports and helps others within the community, and whether there are unusual circumstances that make the accomplishment of the nominee significant,” said Tymensen.
The deadline for nominations for the APEX Youth Awards is March 31, 2025.
