The Municipal District of Taber has rolled out a digital solution that’s changing how residents and businesses apply for development permits—and it couldn’t come at a better time for rural Albertans looking to build, renovate, or expand their properties. Gone are the days of driving into the office, printing multiple copies of documents, or wondering when your application will make it through. The MD’s new online portal offers convenience that fits the realities of rural life.
“The launch of our new online Development Permit Application portal marks a major milestone in enhancing service accessibility to the Development Permit Process for residents and developers in the MD of Taber,” says Arlos Crofts, Chief Administrative Officer, MD of Taber. “This initiative reflects the dedication and forward-thinking approach of our Planning and Development staff, who have worked diligently to create a system that is both accessible and efficient. Their commitment to enhancing user experience and streamlining municipal processes is commendable, and we’re proud to offer this modern solution to our community as the regular and expected method for submission of Development Permit Applications.”
A few of the features of the portal include:
• Save your progress and come back later. Started an application but need to track down additional information? No problem. The system saves your work so you can return when you’re ready without starting from scratch.
• Check your status anytime. You can log in and see where your application stands in the review process. It’s transparency that gives you peace of mind and helps you plan your next steps.
• Faster payments, faster processing. The portal uses Moneris for secure credit and debit payments, which means no more writing cheques or making trips to deliver payment in person.
This is also an eco-friendly solution. Every online application means less paper, fewer printed documents, and reduced waste.
The new portal is live now at the MD of Taber’s website. First-time users will find the interface straightforward, with prompts guiding you through each step. If you do run into questions, municipal staff are still available to help—the online system complements their expertise rather than replacing it.
