Vauxhall’s 2025 Snowflake Frolic event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. throughout the town of Vauxhall on Thurs., Dec. 4.

“The Snowflake Frolic is an annual community celebration hosted by the Vauxhall and District Chamber of Commerce to kick off the Christmas season and promote shopping local,” said Vauxhall and District Chamber of Commerce President Shelley Mehlhaff.

The event, Mehlhaff says, is intended to bring together businesses, organizations, and residents to celebrate community spirit, showcase what our small town has to offer, and encourage everyone to support local merchants, especially during the holiday season.

“Activities, vendors, and entertainment will be set up along main areas of town, with participating businesses staying open late to welcome shoppers,” said Mehlhaff. “There’s something for everyone! Visitors can enjoy pictures with Santa, hayrides, bonfires, a live Nativity scene, street hockey, special in-store sales, games, and a vendor’s market. Participants can also take part in the Snowflake Frolic Bingo, where visiting participating businesses earn stamps toward prize draws. The Shop Local Bingo campaign continues afterward until December 21st, when the $250 Shop Local Bucks Grand Prize will be drawn.”

The event, Mehlhaff said, is organized by the Vauxhall and District Chamber of Commerce with support from local businesses, community organizations, and volunteers, and many local sponsors contribute prizes, decorations, and activities to make the evening a success.

“It’s a lively, festive atmosphere that truly captures the spirit of Christmas in a small town,” said Mehlhaff. “The event is safe, welcoming, and full of small-town charm and is something the whole family can enjoy together.”

The Snowflake Frolic, Mehlhaff said, is ‘a long-standing Vauxhall tradition.’

“It was started by the Chamber of Commerce many years ago as a way to promote local businesses during the holiday season,” said Mehlhaff. “Over time, it has grown into a community-wide celebration that marks the start of Christmas in Vauxhall, combining holiday shopping with fun, fellowship, and festive activities. The Snowflake Frolic is one of the most anticipated events of the year. Residents look forward to the festive atmosphere, reconnecting with neighbours, and supporting local businesses. Many people say it’s the night that truly kicks off Christmas in our community. We think the Snowflake Frolic perfectly represents what makes our community special and gives it a strong sense of togetherness, hometown pride, and support for one another. It’s more than just a shopping night; it’s a celebration of community spirit and the people who make Vauxhall such a wonderful place to live and do business.”
