Arena sound system purchase approved

A brand-new sound system quote has been approved for the Vauxhall arena.

During their regular March 2 meeting, Vauxhall town council discussed quotes for the sound system in the arena.

Two quotes were received, and CAO Cris Burns noted there was a $5,000 difference between the two quotes, with Sound Barrier Equipment having the lowest quote, and being administration’s recommended option at $15,536.72.

According to the quote, the new sound system would include a 4 Channel 1800 Watts per Channel Amp, 4 Wireless Mic System, Behringer Flo 8 Mixer, along with various wires and brackets for mounting. Burns noted they were replacing the entire system.

“We’ve got to replace everything from scratch,” said Burns. “Nothing is being reused, it’s all brand new.”

“Part of the problem of trying to reuse old equipment is trying to match it with everything.”

Burns said that while some of the existing equipment was “garbage”, others were in good enough condition to trade. 

Council passed a motion to purchase a new sound system from Sound Barrier Entertainment for $15,536.72.
