After COVID shut down the event over the previous two years, the Taber Charity Auction is all set and ready to go in 2022 on April 2.
As part of the auction, the Municipal District of Taber usually donates gravel to the cause for someone to bid on. This year, the M.D. was looking at providing the same as reception has been favourable.
“I think this is one that comes every year,” stated Reeve Merrill Harris.
The M.D. had donated three loads of delivered gravel in 2018, two loads in 2019, four loads in 2020, and they donated $1,500 in 2021. Council asked about an estimated cost for the delivered gravel.
“Our cost may not be what it would cost to purchase the gravel. However, we value our gravel at about $4 per yard, so that’s the value of the gravel. Then hauling, depending on the distance, could be anywhere between $4-$7 a yard. Let’s put it at $10 or $11 a yard for delivering gravel,” replied Bryan Badura, director of Corporate Services.
