Meeting briefs for the May 8 Town of Vauxhall municipal council

This is a selection of briefs from the May 8 Vauxhall municipal council meeting.

R.C.M.P. January Report

RCMP calls for service- Taber/Vauxhall detachment area 173, Town of Vauxhall 12. Traffic (alcohol/drug)- impaired driving, 24 and 30-day suspensions, immediate roadside suspensions 0. Non-criminal- 9-1-1 hangups in Vauxhall 9, detachment area criminal record check 33, detachment area fingerprints (general public) 13. Total violation tickets in Vauxhall 0, total violation tickets in Taber detachment area 26, ITU (Lethbridge/Redcliff) violation tickets 13, total patrols in Vauxhall 51. Persons crime saw no change, property crime decrease by 63 per cent, and total Criminal Code offences decrease by 50 per cent when compared to January to March of 2022. There was decrease in break and enters with 8 fewer instances, theft of motor vehicles decrease with 1 fewer instances, and theft under $5,000 had 7 fewer instances.

Bylaw No. 995-23 2023 Property Tax Bylaw

The Vauxhall town council passed all three Readings of a bylaw to authorize the rates of taxation to be levied against assessable property within the Town of Vauxhall for the 2023 Taxation year.

Cheque Listing for the month of April 30, 2023

The council approved the total check listing of $189,981.12 for the month of April.

Time Extension for Review of ICF

As part of renewing this framework after seven years the Vauxhall Town council passed the motion to contact the Municipal District of Taber and work on proposed timelines to be brought back to Council for further discussion.

Firehall Lease Agreement & Fire Authority Services Agreement

As part of the negotiating agreement with the Fire Hall Lease Agreement and Fire Authority Services Agreement which will expire in the summer, the Town Council determined that Deputy Mayor Cawley, Councillor Zacharias and Mayor Coad will attend as representatives for these negotiations.

Vauxhall Public Library Financial Responsibilities

The Vauxhall Council passed the motion to return the bookkeeping duties of the Vauxhall Public Library back to the Vauxhall Public Library.
