Art Room on 2nd is pleased to announce Where the Light Stays, a new exhibition of original paintings by Medicine Hat artist Theresa Eisenbarth. The public is invited to attend the opening reception this Friday, September 18, 2026, at 5 PM at the Art Room on 2nd Gallery in historic downtown Medicine Hat.

Where the Light Stays draws viewers into the beauty of the Alberta prairies — wide skies, familiar windows, and the everyday moments that quietly shape who we are. Painted in Eisenbarth’s luminous, impressionistic style, the works invite viewers to slow down and see the landscapes around us as if for the first time.

Among the pieces on view are What the Sky Holds — a sweeping study of prairie skies with dramatic clouds over green fields — and A Private View, a lush rendering of a window garden, with foliage pressing softly against curtains and glass.

“The prairies hold so much light,” says Eisenbarth. “Not just in the sky, but in the small and familiar things — a window you pass every day, a field you’ve driven by a hundred times. This show is about that light, and the way it stays with you.”

Eisenbarth is a formally trained artist (BFA, University of Calgary) and a past co-founder of Art Room on 2nd. Individuals, corporations, and public institutions across Alberta have collected her work, including the City of Medicine Hat. She is known for embedding real key hardware into original and commissioned paintings.
