Vauxhall will not be charging any increases in their franchise fees starting Jan. 1, 2027.

During their regular Sept. 8 meeting, Vauxhall town council reviewed the proposed franchise see for FortisAlberta. According to the memo to council, the fee had increased to 10 percent in 2026, with the fee being eight percent in 2023-25. Mayor Kimberly Cawley noted that if they kept the rate at 10 percent, the town would see $108,000, which she called “pretty good”.

Council passed a motion that the local access fee charged to FortisAlberta for use of municipal lands for its power lines effective Jan. 1, 2027, will remain at 10 percent.

Council also reviewed the proposed ATCO Gas & Pipeline franchise fee. The fee was set at 12 percent in 2024-26, and 10 percent in 2023. According to the memo, if it remained at 12 percent, the delivery tariff revenue would be $44,000 for 2027.

Council passed a motion to leave the ATCO Gas & Pipeline franchise fee at 12 per cent in 2027.
