During their regular Oct. 19 meeting, Vauxhall council reviewed the September report from the Taber-Vauxhall RCMP.

• There were seven calls for service in Vauxhall, out of a total of 109 for the entire detachment area.

• The town was patrolled 29 times.

• In terms of criminal code offences, stats continue to trend downwards in the months of January through to September compared to the same period last year, with a 35 per cent decrease in persons crimes, 21 per cent decrease in property crimes, and 43 per cent decrease in other criminal code offences. Total criminal code offences were down 28 per cent.

• In terms of property crimes, there was a 64 per cent increase compared to last year for break and enters (nine more cases), but there were nine fewer instances of thefts of motor vehicles and an eight per cent decrease (two fewer instances) of theft under $5,000.

• In September, property crime consisted on a break and enter into a worksite; a mischief where the victim did not want to press charges, two vehicles that sustained damage, a copper wire theft from a pivot, and a theft from a motor vehicle.

• The detachment laid charges in three cases during September.

• Each school in the detachment area has been assigned a police officer, with the police offers having introduced themselves.
