With more and more electric cars on southern Alberta roads, the Town of Vauxhall has started exploring different areas in town to place a charging station. With the Municipal Climate Action Centre announcing funding for the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles, this has kicked the discussion more front and centre for the town. The stations would also be rebated back to the community following installation and town administration filed an expression of interest with potential locations. Administration first wanted to gauge council interest and see if they had any ideas for potential locations for an electric vehicle charging station.

“I would support a motion for us to move forward with the electric vehicle charging program. Being with SouthGrow, and the very first meeting we had with people from B.C. to get this project moving forward in Alberta to ensure tourism is vibrant — I think this is an excellent opportunity for Vauxhall to finally be a part of this. And with the support from the government paying for this program, we just have to pay for the costs upfront, I just see this as a win-win,” said Coun. Margaret Plumtree.
