As the Municipal District of Taber receives requests for support for Alberta Community Partnership (ACP) grant applications, the Town of Taber is looking for some help with a regional wastewater plan for future area expansion and food processing plants.
The proposed scope of work includes:
1. Development of a regional collection system network
2. Development of regional wastewater generation rates
3. Complete an assessment of the Town of Taber’s wastewater treatment infrastructure
4. Review of wastewater treatment and disposal alternatives
5. Review of regional collaboration plan
During M.D. council’s regular meeting on Jan. 10, councillors discussed what exactly needs to be done. Administration further explained what the Town was hoping to accomplish.
“We received this request for resolution for support for some feasibility/investigative study work the Town is wanting to pursue with respect to their wastewater infrastructure capacity,” said CAO Arlos Crofts.
“What they’ve explained to me is while they’re doing that, they want to look at potential regional opportunities at the same time. That is ultimately why they are asking for that resolution of support as their neighbour — there might be some potential in the future with respect to servicing the overall area with respect to future development specifically to wastewater.”
