Water discolouration concerns in Vauxhall rectified Commission working to address taste issues

Posted on August 15, 2024 by Vauxhall Advance

Vauxhall & District Regional Water Services Commission

On July 14, Commission staff received a report of water discolouration. Commission staff, in collaboration with the Town of Vauxhall and the MD of Taber, have since been able to successfully resolve this.

Earlier and throughout the week of July 29, residents of Vauxhall and the surrounding area (including the Hamlets of Enchant and Hays) may have noticed a difference in the taste of their drinking water.

Water Treatment Plant Operators, with the support of drinking water specialists, are actively diagnosing and taking treatment steps to address the taste that is currently being experienced. Treatment adjustments made earlier this week (Aug. 5-9) to address this have resulted in some improvement at the plant – although not yet achieving complete resolution specific to the taste concern.

The water continues to meet the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality, Environmental, and Safety Standards for drinking water and is safe to drink.

We appreciate and ask for your continued patience and thank you for your cooperation during this time as the problem may persist for several days as adjustments are being made in the water treatment process (each adjustment, based on current distribution flows and volumes will likely take up to 24-30 hours to realize impact). Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue.
