On May 7, the Village of Lomond received a grant of $15,000 from the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta.

The grant receiving ceremony took place at CASA in Lethbridge, where representatives from the Village of Lomond were presented with the cheque and a plaque.

“The administration office as well as the Village residents were overjoyed to be selected and receive this donation!” said McKenzie Koch, chief administrative officer for the Village of Lomond. “It’s always a joyous occasion for our small town to be recognized and supported. We are beyond grateful!”

Koch explained that the money will be allocated towards purchasing fitness equipment needed for the community gym, and will also go towards construction for a building for that gym.

“Our small community of 200+ people need space to unwind, improve, and grow,” said Koch. “A welcoming facility that provides both physical and mental health support for our community members. Due to our limited financial resources to expand our town, this donation will assist us immensely to provide the care our members so very much deserve. We have very little financial recourses to pull from to expand in leisure. Most of our municipal budget is tied up in infrastructure and maintenance, and we ultimately do not have the luxury of an overage to expand in these industries. Receiving outside funding is occasionally the only way we can develop, so for these reasons we are overjoyed to receive financial assistance.”
