June stats continue to trend downward for local RCMP

During their regular July 20 meeting, Vauxhall town council reviewed the report on the Taber-Vauxhall RCMP’s June 2026 statistics. While the report was on the agenda as part of a delegation, the delegation was not in attendance at the meeting.

Highlights from the report include:

• 12 calls for service in Vauxhall

• Five criminal code violations reported in town

• Two 9-1-1 hangups were in Vauxhall

• 32 patrols around town

• For Criminal Code offenses, there was a 39 per cent decrease in persons crimes, a 16 per cent decrease in property crimes, and a 32 per cent decrease in other Criminal Code violations reported between January and June 2026 compared to the same time last year

• For property crimes, there were six more cases of break and enters, seven fewer instances of motor vehicle theft, and one fewer instance of theft under $5,000 compared to the same period last year

• For property crimes in June, there were two cases of fraud still under investigation, a case of mischief where a window was broken in a residence, and four cases of propert theft under $5,000

• The department laid charges in two investigations in the month of June
