Vauxhall Elementary School will serve as the site for a Community Clothing Swap that will take place on Thursday, Nov. 5 from 3:20 to 6 p.m.
Mackenzie Petek, a Family Connections Wellness Coach who is part of the Mental Health Capacity Building Team for ACE Place, Vauxhall High School, Horizon MAP, and Vauxhall Elementary School, said that the event is free for people to attend, and that all families from Vauxhall and the surrounding communities are welcome.
Families, Petek noted, are encouraged to bring gently used clothing that their children have outgrown and exchange it for clothing that fits them now, but she stressed that bringing clothing to donate is not a requirement to attend.
“Families are more than welcome to come and browse and, take items they need, even if they do not have anything to contribute,” said Petek.
In addition to offering clothing, Petek explained, Family and Community Services will be present to provide families with information about the services and supports they offer.
The idea for the event came from the team at Family Connections, Petek said.
“With the holiday season approaching, we recognize that finances can be tight for many families, and we wanted to find a way to support families in Vauxhall and the surrounding communities,” explained Petek. “We hope this event will help families access clothing they need while also encouraging community sharing and connection. Our hope is that we can support as many families as possible and, if successful, continue offering similar events in the future. We look forward to welcoming families from Vauxhall and the surrounding communities and hope to see you there!”
