The following are selected briefs from the Municipal District of Taber’s regular council meeting held on Feb. 11.
Enchant House
After the formerly owned operator house in Enchant was offered to all M.D. of Taber staff for rent, word has come back there were no takers.
With that in mind, administration gave council two different options moving forward — leave the house vacant or offer to rent the house to the public under the terms as described in the prepared advertisement.
In the ad, rent is slated for $1,000 per month with a damage deposit of $1,000 required prior to occupancy and utilities are not included in rent.
The house will be available on March 1.
Council voted unanimously to offer to rent the house to the public under the terms described.
Hays Arts and Crafts Society
Following M.D. of Taber approving $4,000 for the roof for the Hays Arts and Crafts Society back in August, the group has updated their ask.
Council had also approved $5,000 for the deductible for the upgrade at the same meeting.
In a letter dated Feb. 1 for M.D. council, the group was requesting the original $4,000 funding to now be applied towards the replacement of eaves trough and facia at the building.
The total invoice amount is $18,325 with $916.26 in GST with insurance providing $8,517.70.
While council was still committed to the $5,000 for the deductible, they weren’t fully sure how to proceed as the other $4,000 was put forward for a tin roof, though the group had decided asphalt and shingles were best.
They tabled the discussion to get further information.
