The following are selected briefs from Vauxhall town council’s regular meeting held on Nov. 4. Councillors Richard Phillips and Linda English were absent from the meeting.
Organizational Meeting
At the Town of Vauxhall’s annual organizational meeting, Margaret Plumtree was re-elected as mayor by acclamation while Jake Wiebe was appointed as the new deputy mayor.
Vauxhall Recreation Board
As part of the organizational meeting, councillors were appointed to boards and committees, one of which is the Vauxhall rec board.
With that particular board seeing long lengths of inactivity, it was recommended by Coun. Kim Cawley to rescind Bylaw 914-17 Vauxhall Recreation Board.
Council unanimously approved to rescind Bylaw 914-17.
Bylaw No. 956-10 Noise
Bylaw No. 956-10 was brought forward for review and needed minor changes.
One condition within the bylaw that council stated may need further changes would be extending hours permitting noise, which is currently from 7 a.m.-9 p.m.
A motion for first reading was carried unanimously.
