Posted on January 2, 2020 by Vauxhall Advance

In mid-December, Fortis Alberta presented Vauxhall High School with a donation of $1,000 as a winner of their GreenUp grant program.

The GreenUp grant program is designed to help create or enhance an environmental program for students in elementary or junior high schools.

Twenty-five schools in the service area were awarded a grant of $1,000 to implement an environmental education program.

Vauxhall High School will implement aquaculture (fish) in their greenhouse with a long-term goal of implementing vertical or tower gardens above the tanks.

FortisAlberta’s Community Investment program is based on the guiding principle that their organization’s success depends on the well-being of the communities in which they operate, and where their employees live and work.

Through philanthropic donations and the personal involvement of our employees, their vision is to empower communities by contributing to organizations that offer programs and services aligned with FortisAlberta’s business focuses: safety, education, the environment and wellness.
