The following are selected briefs from the Municipal District of Taber council’s regular meeting held on Oct. 12.
Closed Session
The following motions were carried out of the M.D. of Taber’s closed session at their Sept. 28 meeting. Closed session lasted one hour and 17 minutes.
DSH Invitation – That administration invite e representatives from Derek Stimson Holdings to present at a future council meeting.
STAR Theatre – That; council grant the STAR Theatre initiative a one time $200,000 contribution funded from Municipal Reserves under the following conditions:
1. That STAR Theatre independently fundraise $250,000
2. That STAR Theatre secure the building donation from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
3. That STAR Theatre move forward with the understanding that no future contributions will be considered.
And; to encourage STAR Theatre to utilize the M.D.’s Donations to community organization programs events and activities policy on an annual basis.
Council Recognition
M.D. council gave recognition to two councillors who were departing council.
Division 7 Councillor Leavitt Howg was recognized for his four years of service on the board.
Division 3 Councillor Brian Brewin was recognized for 23 years.
