June 16 Vauxhall council briefs

The following are selected briefs from the June 16 regular meeting of Vauxhall town council.

CAO report

Town CAO Cris Burns recently attended the Jets Stadium Society AGM, and noted the society needed new volunteers and members. The society has focused on supporting and improving the Jets Stadium and Brewers Diamond, along with support Vauxhall minor baseball teams, for the past 10 years.

MOU with Taber Region Economic Development Collaboration

Due to issues with the Zoom meeting link, council was unable to asked questions from the groups working members. As such, they reviewed it for information.

RCMP Report

An addition to the agenda, council received the report for information. Council also discussed concerns regarding increased ATV, dirt-bike, and minibike use within town, noting a dirt-bike accident on private property where the rider was injured.

Arena Advertising Policy

A misprint in the agenda package has this item labeled as the Recreation Policy. Canadian Arena Management has presented a proposal to the town to manage the arena advertising in exchange for a portion of advertising sales. A new policy for this will be created for council’s next meeting, which is expected to take place Monday, July 21.
