Inaugural bike parade on August 1

The Vauxhall Lions Campground will be hosting an inaugural bike parade event at 2 p.m. on August 1 at the Vauxhall Lions Campground.

“It’s just a fun bike parade for the kids,” Brian Chnarr, one of the members of the Vauxhall Lions Club stated.

Shari Carpenter, who serves as the caretaker for the park along with her husband Tony, said the event will feature a ‘parade of bikes’ around the park and then the three prize winners will be drawn from a bucket, with first prize receiving $25, second prize receiving $15, and third prize receiving $10 with all of the other participants being rewarded candy. 

Following the prize draw, Carpenter explained, there will be a hot dog barbecue at the park.

The event, Carpenter said, was planned by herself and her husband and Lions Club members Ron and Lois Maloney as a way to bring more attention to the park.

“We enjoy working at the park,” said Carpenter. “It’s home to us.”

Those who wish to participate in the event, Carpenter noted, can simply show up to the event with their bike on August 1.

“We’re hoping to get a good turnout to the event,” said Carpenter.
