In January, the Vauxhall and District Regional Water Commission received reports from residents regarding an unusual taste and slight tint in the drinking water.
Upon receiving reports from residents, the Commission says, water operators immediately began monitoring and testing the water to identify any potential causes, and determined that elevated manganese levels were the primary cause.
The Commission also says that investigations into potential sources of these fluctuations and solutions to mitigate the issue are ‘ongoing.’ The solutions, the Commission says, include daily testing to ‘ensure that the water continues to meet all regulatory requirements for safe drinking.’
The Commission says they ‘remain committed to ensuring that the water meets all safety standards and is taking all necessary steps to resolve concerns’ and at present, all test results confirm that the water remains safe for consumption.
The Vauxhall and District Regional Water Commission ‘encourages residents to stay informed by following official updates on the MD of Taber website: https://www.mdtaber.ab.ca/ and social media channels.’
The Vauxhall and District Regional Water Commission also ‘appreciates and thanks residents for their patience and continued understanding as they work to improve water quality.’
