Vauxhall Figure Skating Club gearing up for new season

Come next week, figure skaters will be back on the ice in Vauxhall for the new season. On Sept. 28, the season officially kicks off, and registration is well underway already.

Those looking to learn to skate can look at registering for PreCanSkate, which runs on Monday from 5:45-6:15 p.m. from Sept. 28 until March 12. Total fees for the year are $200. CanSkate, which is for older beginner and more advanced skaters, runs on Mondays from 5:45-6:30 p.m. from Sept. 28 until March 12, with fees set at $225. If you are only interested in a half year, fees are $135 and runs from Sept. 28 until Dec. 14.

Those who have already completed or nearly completed CanSkate can sign up for StarSkate. There are three available ice times a week starting on Monday from 6:30-8 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, ice time is from 4:30-6:30 p.m. A full year on any of the three days sees fees of $165 with coaching.

For hockey players looking to improve their skating, power skating classes return on Mondays. U9 and under players skate from 4:45-5:30 p.m. while U11 and older skate from 4-4:45 p.m. The program runs for 20 weeks from Sept. 28 until March 12. Power skating fees for both groups are $225 for the full year and $135 for a half year.

Vauxhall Skating Club is also still searching to fill some board member seats for the year. Board members see a $100 registration discount as well as $100 of their fundraising bond requirement. If you are interested, contact the club at vauxhallskating@gmail.com.
