The 2026 Vikings season began in January with indoor workouts. From day one, the expectations were very high.
With five grade 12’s and six other returning players, the team set its eyes on winning the Tier 1 Championship. The players worked hard for months to prepare for the season, and it paid off. The team went 8-0 during league play and then won three straight in the final tournament to finish the season at 11-0.
They started the final tournament with a 6-0 win over Foothills Composite, then they won 11-6 against Raymond and followed that with a 17-7 victory over Maple Creek in the finals.
Coach Virginillo would like to thank all the players from this year’s team for winning one last championship, as he is retiring from coaching. He would also like to say thank you to all the players he has coached over the years (2003-2026). He has been a part of the following championship teams: (2004 Tier 3, 2005 Tier 2, 2014 Tier 3, 2015 Tier 1, 2017 Tier 1, 2023 Tier 2, and 2026 Tier 1).
It has been a great experience to see players develop on and off the field. He would also like to thank Keegan McNeil for helping coach this year and Jimmy Vulcano and Stacey Hagen for their help in the past. Thank you for 20-plus years of great memories.
