Grads for division schools underway ahead of supt. transition

The Horizon School Division’s (HSD) 2025 high school graduation and elementary/junior high farewell and celebration dates are already underway. Each of the events will be attended by a school board trustee. Supt. Wilco Tymensen is entering the home stretch of his career in the division, and a Blackfoot naming ceremony will take place on May 30 from 1 -3 p.m. at the HSD office. Tymensen is retiring at the end of August and will be receiving a Blackfoot name from Elder Charlie Fox.

  Upon Tymensen’s retirement in August, Dr. Adam Browning, the new HSD Supt. of Schools will have a brief period of time to familiarize himself with his surroundings before the school year begins. Browning is scheduled to begin Aug. 1 after serving in other educational roles for nearly two decades. Browning was a teacher and principal in both elementary and secondary schools before serving most recently as director of learning for Palliser School Division.

  Tymensen will leave immediately upon Browning’s arrival, and he explained, “A school division is only allowed one superintendent at a time. As such, Adam begins after I end. We have however had numerous transition meetings as he prepares to take over the leadership of Horizon.”

Arden T. Litt – Sat., May 31- 11 a.m. – ceremony

Taber Christian School – Wed, June 4 – TBA; Thurs, June 5 – TBA; Fri., June 6 – 11:15 a.m.- assembly

Taber Christian High School – Fri., June 6 – 3 p.m. – ceremony

Milk River Ridge School – Friday, June 6 at Civic Centre – 5 p.m. banquet – 7:30 p.m. ceremony

Lomond Community School – Sat., June 7 – 3 p.m. ceremony

Barnwell School – Thursday, June 12 – 1:30 p.m. assembly

Central Elementary School – Wed., June 18 – 1 p.m. Gr. 5 farewell

Dr. Hamman Elementary School – Fri., June 20 9 a.m. Gr. 5 farewell

L.T. Westlake – Fri., June 20 – 10:45 a.m. Gr. 5 farewell

Vauxhall Elementary School – Wed., June 25  9 a.m.

ACE Place – Wed., June 25 – Heritage Inn 4:45 p.m. banquet and ceremony
