New curbside recycling program coming to Vauxhall this fall

The Town of Vauxhall has announced that, effective October 1, we will transition to an enhanced recycling program that includes new curbside recycling collection for residents.

This new recycling service will be managed by Circular Materials under Alberta’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework. Circular Materials is a not-for-profit producer organization responsible for Alberta’s transition to EPR, helping ensure more packaging and paper products are collected and recycled.

Town issues reminder about proper disposal

Garbage is being dumped in front of the Canadian Diabetes donation bin located beside the Vauxhall Co-op Food Store.

The front of the donation container clearly identifies which items are acceptable for donation. Despite this, unacceptable items and garbage are continually being placed outside the bin. This is a courtesy bin and we would hate to see it removed from the community because of misuse. 

As a result, Public Works staff are required to clean up the site and transport the discarded materials to the Vauxhall Landfill.  None of these items would be chargeable at the landfill.

Vauxhall Landfill is open Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m.

The festivities start on Saturday, August 8 at 4 p.m. at the Rainier Community Hall for an afternoon and evening packed with family fun.

• Our brand new Rainier Games and Golden Bocce Ball Hunt competitions (both with prizes to be won)

Tickets are available at the door, so no need to buy ahead if you’re making a last minute decision.

Every dollar raised goes directly toward the Rainier Recreation Park Revitalization Project, helping improve our community for years to come.
