The following are selected briefs from the regular Dec. 15, 2025, meeting of Vauxhall town council.
Delegations
The Do Crew gave a presentation to council about their activities and upcoming events, which include, among others, a cocoa-and-cookies event with seniors, Kindness Tree at the library, volunteering at the fire station and Canada Day celebration, and a leadership camp in the summer.
Jackie Seeley, STARS donor relations and development officer, gave a presentation on STARS’ activities and fundraising.
External Minutes
As requested by the Regional Emergency Advisory Committee, council approved the appointments of Nathan Cote as the Regional Director of Emergency Management (RDEM), Brandon Bougie as the Deputy Director of Emergency Management for the Municipal District of Taber (DDEM), and Cris Bruns as the Deputy Director of Emergency Management (DDEM) for Vauxhall.
Administration/Public Works Policy
CAO Cris Burns said that policy 052-2025 was a “re-edited” version of an existing town policy. During an OIS inspection about a month ago, Burns said that it had been noted that “the policy wasn’t quite up to date”, as it was missing training details for workplace violence and harassment.
Mayor Kim Cawley noted that the policy seemed “pretty standard”.
Council passed a motion to adopt the policy.
A copy of the policy was not included in the agenda package and was not available online as of press deadline.
Closed Session
Council went into closed session, citing section 197(2) of the Municipal Government Act and section 16 of division 2 of part 1 of FOIPP – disclosure harmful to business interests of third party (16) and 24 Advice from Officials (21).
Following closed session, council passed a motion to approve the commitment of $2,000 for the next four years (2026-29) for STARS Air Ambulance.
